Cover Letter

I found this article very relevant to the situation that most students are currently in looking for jobs and internships. A cover letter's main purpose is to catch the attention of the employer and encourage them to take a further look into your resume. The main idea of the website is to tailor the cover letter to each individual job to show your personal interest in the company. Before taking this class and reading the website, I did not fully understand the magnitude or the importance of a cover letter. I will now make sure I spend just as much, if not more time, working on conveying the first impression that I want to give an employer through my cover letter.

Client Project

Meeting our new client this week calmed some nerves, and aroused some fears. She was very broad with her goal for this project, which opened many doors but makes it hard to focus on the end result. With Clemson already rated the happiest campus and with the current budget crisis, I think that steps should be implemented to improve existing programs such as SolidGreen and make better use of our outdoor facilities such as Bowman field. I think everyone right now feels a little overwhelmed but once the ideas have been concentrated down this project will spring to life!

Interviewing Do's and Don'ts

Although some of the mistakes mentioned in the list are very important to not, I think what is most important not what mistakes to make but what to do correctly. I recently interviewed for a position at a local bank which was my first actual interview of my career. I was terribly nervous and worried myself to death. After leaving the interview I realized it was in my best interest to remain calm, cool, and collected. Tips for a successful interview is to be yourself, be relaxed, and most importantly practice makes perfect! Interview, and interview often!

Underdogs

With a free topic I decided to write about what I am passionate about and what is currently on my mind. Superbowl. I am upset that I have to keep up with the actions in between studying for two tests early Monday morning. What professor schedules test the day after the Superbowl? Beats me. Although I am a huge Carolina Panthers fan, I'd love to see the Cardinals take it home tonight. Does not look to likely. It is time to head back to my extravagant adventures of the academia world. Go Cardinals!
